  KAMIYA BIOMEDICAL COMPANY has released a Human MxA ELISA kit ! For the quantitative determination of MxA in human whole blood. For research use only.  Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Assay Range: 0.38 - 24 ng/mL $1,050 / 96 tests per kit (Click Image To Enlarge) Research suggests that type I interferons (IFN-α and IFN-β) are important to an immune response against viral infections.  MxA protein production is induced exclusively by the presence of type I interferons as part of the antiviral response, making it a surrogate marker for type I interferons.  MxA is also relatively stable in blood.  The MxA ELISA test kit is an easy way to quantitatively determine MxA protein in whole blood.   MxA protein has been reported to indicate viral infection by acting as an indicator for type I interferons. Testing for MxA protein may represent a future method for differentiation between bacterial and viral infections. MxA is unique because it is induced exclusively by type I interferons. MxA is stable in blood and has a longer half-life and lower basal concentration than other viral marker proteins. Assay utilizes highly specific anti-MxA monoclonal antibodies. 25 µL whole blood sample. 1 hour, 40 minutes total assay incubation time.
